Best Man: Dr. Potter

Dan and Vanessa, North Shore, Hawaii, 2000

Brent says: "Dan Potter. Hmm. His brain is what I think of first. It's ultra powerful, like Spock's. But what I really appreciate is that there's so much other stuff in Dan's Brain besides logic. To some annoyance, there's some "absent-minded professor," but you'll also find strong creativity, an adventurous spirit and a love of the abstract.

"I've known Dan since I was 8 years old. We went to all of the same schools, from elementary to CU Boulder. (Of course, Dan kept going, ultimately getting a doctorate in astrophysics…) I don't think I've ever beaten Dan in anything competitive. Not golf. Not chess. Not ping-pong, mountain bike riding or long-distance running. I might have beaten him in tennis. Once.

"Among other places, Dan has lived at the South Pole studying neutrinos, in New Zealand to fly fish and Hawaii to look through telescopes and surf. Right now he's in Arizona doing post-doctorate work. He is married to Vanessa, a fabulous and beautiful woman with the rare ability to provide the connection between Dan's Brain and the real world."
